The GlucoRx lancing device provides a safe and convenient way to obtain a drop of capillary blood for glucose monitoring.
Suitable for all skin types, the device has six penetration depth settings, ranging from one to six. The smaller numbers are suitable for shallow punctures, while the larger ones are for a deeper puncture.
Shallower punctures work for children and most adults. Deeper punctures work well for people with thick or callused skin. The device also has the ability to puncture non-fingertip types, if needed.
How do blood sugar tests work?
One of the best ways for diabetics to understand their condition is to regularly test their blood sugar. By doing so, people with diabetes can learn how their blood sugar responds to certain foods, medications and physical activities. Keeping a record of these changes will allow the user and their doctor to create a plan to manage the condition.
In personal tests, a lancet will draw a small amount of blood by pricking the skin, usually on a fingertip. A blood glucose testing device (known as a glucometer) will then be used to measure the user’s current blood sugar levels.
People with diabetes must test their blood sugar regularly to monitor any sudden changes. Doing so will make it easier to keep the levels in the target range set by their doctor.
What if my blood sugar levels are too high/low?
Hyperglycaemia, otherwise .known as high blood sugar, can cause symptoms including:
- Frequent urination
- Drowsiness
- Nausea
- Extreme hunger or thirst
- Blurry vision
Hypoglycaemia, otherwise referred to as low blood sugar, can cause symptoms including:
- Shaking
- Fast heartbeat
- Sweating
- Anxiety
- Dizziness
- Extreme hunger
- Weakness and tiredness
- Irritability
