It does exactly what it says on the box (but please follow the instructions/ advice.) My personal experience... avoid fatty foods that day, and make sure you drink plenty of water. Sometimes you might get the feeling you are coming down with a cold (bunged nose). Lights can look extremely bright (possibly due to higher blood pressure and pupils dilated). However these symptoms are few and far between, also NOT debilitating.
